Largest Update Since Launch of Pharmaceutical Substances

Stuttgart, Germany - Thieme Publishing Group has announced the largest update to Pharmaceutical Substances since its launch in 2003. Pharmaceutical Substances Version 3.1, available via Thieme-connect (www.thieme-connect.com), is a comprehensive reference guide to every significant pharmaceutical compound and includes all FDA approved active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

Dr. Krimmer, Director Institutional Marketing, who manages the Pharmaceutical Substances project at Thieme states, "With 51 completely new and some 1,300 fully updated drug monographs, Pharmaceutical Substances Version 3.1 is the most up-to-date resource for researchers in industry and academic institutions involved in the synthesis of active pharmaceutical substances. We greatly appreciate the excellent work of our authors Professors Kleemann, Engel, Kutscher and Dr. Reichert as well as our cooperation partners FIZ Chemie and InfoChem who all worked on very tight deadlines to make this new release happen."

More than half of the entries have been revised in version 3.1. The substantial revisions include information regarding patents, literature, medical use, as well as trade and vendor names.

Compiled by leaders in the filed of pharmaceutical chemistry in association with InfoChem (www.infochem.de) and FIZ Chemie, the online version of the information resource is an easy-to-navigate, web-based portal that utilizes standard browser technology. The user-friendly interface lets you rapidly locate data and graphically search structures.

"As a process research and development chemist, I appreciate the detailed reaction schemes which inform me on how every drug on the market can be made and the detailed references to, not only the published literature, but to patents," states Dr. Trevor Laird, Scientific Update LLP and Editor of Organic Process Research and Development.

Pharmaceutical Substances provides a compendium of 2461 APIs of interest to the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. It is an invaluable resource for anyone and everyone involved in the design, synthesis, development, and evaluation of drugs.
